Surrealistic Suicide is a collection of music created by Chris Romans over a 2 year period. The music was composed, recorded, and produced at his apartment music studio.
The album ushers in a new musical thematic genre of "post-life" music, in which all of the music depicts an abstract and surrealistic after life concept. The music contained on this album dabbles in a variety of genres and ideas, including electronic, folk, post-rock, and soundtrack/ambient styles. Major thematic influences stem from the film The Fountain, the musical work of Clint Mansell, as well as a variety of other acts. This album is a very personal work, with lyrical content critically analyzing love, depression, philosophy, and religion from the perspective of a clinically depressed individual. Finally, Surrealistic Suicide is a reflection on my late sister to whom these songs are written for from a sense of a dream-like longing and the devastating realization of total loss.
May these 10 tracks both depress and captivate you, through their atmospheres and imperfections.
